& Antioxidant

The fir is a long-lived coniferous tree that releases phytoncide, a volatile substance with repellent effects, to protect itself from harmful microorganisms and insects. It is a natural substance that is harmless to the human body and has a relaxing effect. It is believed to keep pests at bay and to decompose and neutralize them through a chemical reaction with the odorous component. Its antioxidant properties also inhibit decomposition.

調湿Humidity control

Each cell of the fir, which aids the tree in reaching a height of 30 to 50 meters and a trunk diameter of 1.5 to 2 meters, has a large range of humidity control in proportion to its size. When humidity rises, cells absorb moisture, and when it falls, they dissipate moisture to maintain a constant humidity level in the surrounding area.

微香性Subtle fragrance

Compared to cedar and cypress, fir has an almost odorless woody fragrance. It has long been used in a variety of settings due to its restrained, considerate, and subtle scent.

神聖 / 審美性Sacredness &

The fir is referred to as “omi-no-ki” in the Manyoshu, and is used as an onbashira in the rituals of the Suwa Grand Shrine.
The white color and clean look of the fir is beautiful, and its elegant appearance is suitable for weddings and funerals.
